I had never tried to quit, untill the day I seen my Doctor. He gave me a prescription for Zyban. My insurance didnt cover it and it was very expensive. I just said to heck with it and bought my first month of pills. The instructions for the prescription said to keep smoking for the first week of taking the pills then to quit after you had enough medicine in your system. After 3 days of taking the Zyban I just made up my mind that I was done. I havent had a smoke since that day 10-19-2001. The original prescription was for a 3 month supply. I only ended up taking 28 pills. I bought patches but only ended up using 2 of them. I did use the Nicorette gum for the first week of my quit though. The Zyban did help so that I wasnt shaking from the withdrawels. I did get support from a buddy at work. He put me on the SLUG, He said he would slug me everytime he seen me light up. LOLOL I did have a tough time at first because I was the Chairperson for the AA meetings in the Friendly Bunch in Magna, and it was a smoking meeting. Thats when the gum helped the most. I found the quitnet the day before I actually quit. Finding that website was what helped me make up my mind. Their is alot support on that site. I visit their almost every day still. It ahs been a life saver!
Quitting is the best thing you will ever do for yourself! Even if you dont get it the first time or the 20th time, dont ever stop trying! Smoking will KILL you! Take back your life!
